This was a very sad but interesting thread. It echoes what one of our hiking buddies here in Marin told us about the land of the now defunct San Geronimo Golf Course that it used to be filled with calochortus bulbs. And then just several years ago hundreds of dudleya plants were stolen by some an East Asian gangs to sell from the headlands.
