There are approx. 5 species of Hesperaloe within Agavaceae from dry grasslands, desert shrublands, and oak-pine forests in southern Texas and northern Mexico. Plants consist of stemless rosettes spreading by rhizomes. The flowers are held on large inflorescences that are either racemes or loose panicles, and are white to green-white to two-toned with pink or red exterior and pink, white, cream, or yellow interior.
