Title: Soccer World Cup 2022
Post by: David Pilling on November 18, 2022, 09:14:59 AM
In 2010 when the World Cup was in South Africa, Bob Ruetemoeller, remarked on the PBS list:

"I just found a reference for this new species named Moraea vuvuzela."

The Vuvuzela was the cheap musical instrument of that World Cup.

Just saw the local organizing committee has banned beer just a couple of days prior to the start.

What are the folks gonna drink?

Apparently you can buy beer at $14 a pint in the fan zone (nearly as expensive as in the UK  :) ), but sales have been banned from inside grounds.

England's game against Iran was a revelation, it looked like they could play football. Tonight they played the USA, three of tomorrow's UK newspapers have the headline "Yawn in the USA". Back to classic England world cup play - a goalless draw. Draws do not win world cups, something England have proved a number of times.

David:

You've hit on my favorite line/

If it is goalless it has to be a draw.

We had a TV guy here who would say a "Goalless tie"
