Many South African bulb flowers last only a few hours.  Fortunately there are often new flowers coming on, so there are flowers to admire for several days at least.

Has anyone deliberately searched for ones that lasted longer?

Showing little imagination, the nerine and amaryllis outside the window just now last quite a long time - but they flower at a cool time of year.

Like a lot else, the wiki does not tag flowers by how long they last.

Some daffodils seem to last longer than others. But it's always about conditions, many a time hot windy weather does for my tulips.

We can easily add such a tag and make it searchable. (ceterum censeo SSP in Wikii esse efficiendam)

I wouldn't point on a continent though, it's mostly certain (sub) families, e.g. iridoideae (as opposed to longer lasting crocoideae), commelinaceae or cactaceae - that's why it is fairly difficult to find a replacement. Still, I adore my tribus tigridieae. I's not unusual for me to have a spontaneous home office day to actually see a flower...

Well, Martin, maybe your potted plant should accompany you to work.
