Title: [solved] Narcissus species?
Post by: Diane Whitehead on March 31, 2023, 11:46:49 AM
This narcissus is in an old garden behind the coach house of a mansion built in 1906.

I have never seen a daffodil with a sharply kinked stem like this one.  Could it be a species?

You might be able to figure out what it is using Daffseek (https://daffseek.org/colors-help/).  The daffodiliacs also seem to have another website that might help you.  https://daffnet.org (https://daffnet.org/)  Old House Gardens deals in heirloom plants and even Brent and Becky's offer some.

Something about the ruffled corolla makes me think this is a hybrid not a species.  Just a gut level feeling.  It does have a lovely, delicate look about it.

Hi, not a species. A poeticus hybrid, similar to x incomparabilis, if not true incomparabilis.

Thank you, Carlos.

My friend is excited to know the name of her narcissus.
