The List Archive pages were recently updated.  Since then, the last entry (currently 'The Bulb Garden Newsletter') in the middle column can be scrolled up far enough to see it, but as soon as you let go of it, it scrolls down a bit till it is hidden & the link cannot be selected.  The last 2.5 lines are hidden.  This is on an iPad 2.

General Plants and Gardening / Silverhill Seeds postage
October 24, 2023, 01:53:15 PM
Several years ago I looked into ordering a book from Silverhill, but the postage to the US was prohibitive.  Has anyone in the US ordered seeds from them, to give me an idea of what to expect.  I would be ordering 10-20 packets.

PBS Forum Feedback & Help / Broken link
September 13, 2023, 01:26:06 PM
On the bulb exchange payments page, the link to the membership page in the "BX Payments" section is broken, getting a 404 page not found message.  The other link to the membership page, in the "PBS Functions" section, works fine.

General Discussion / Leaves deformed
April 18, 2023, 04:28:15 PM
I have two Scadoxus multiflorus
ssp. katharinae that I have been growing for several years.  This year, the new growth on one is abnormal, see the green bulges in the attached photos.  The other one looks normal.  Any idea what this could be?

PBS Forum Feedback & Help / Unread posts
March 13, 2023, 02:39:53 PM
I had a few questions about the several different links used to find recent posts on the forum.  The first 2 below appear on the upper right of all new pages (those showing the new web pages supporting the forum).  The last one shows on the 'Unread Posts' page when there are no new links to display.

I mostly use the first one, to see the new items since I last looked.  This is great, as it lets me browse though the recent posts sequentially, as I used to do on the browser interface of the list archive.

I have never seen anything in the 'Updated Topics' page.  If this is replies to topics I started, that may be because I look at 'Unread Posts' first.  What exactly is this one?

'All Unread Topics' had older items in it, dating back to the start of the forum.  I have gradually read these until they were all gone.  Yesterday after reading all of the recent unreads, I looked at all of the unreads.  There were 2, less than 1 day old (I think).  What is the dividing time interval between recent and all unreads?  And is it settable by the user?  I've posted a screen shot below showing an example of this today, but for a bit longer interval than a day.

General Discussion / Gloriosa superba
December 26, 2022, 03:13:26 PM
I have a friend who wants a few Gloriosa superba tubers to plant this spring.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a good USA source?  Terra Ceia Farms in North Carolina has some, but I have never dealt with them, so any feedback would be appreciated.

General Plants and Gardening / Plants on TV
July 26, 2022, 02:05:42 PM
I have seen several shows recently on PBS streaming that I think will be of interest, as unlike most nature shows, they focus more on plants than animals.

"The Green Planet" features some amazing time-lapse photography.  It is a 5 part series narrated by David Attenborough.  The third episode (Seasonal Worlds) has a segment on the South African fynbos (starting at 22:50), including showing sunbirds pollinating 'fire lilies', which look like a cyrtanthus species to me.  Unfortunately they imply the fire lily remains dormant until after a fire, which I am guessing should have been only flowers after a fire.  These shows are currently free to stream, but like some shows on PBS may disappear within a week or two after the final show airs.

The other show is "Expeditions with Patrick McMillan", mainly showing different eco-regions in the United States, with an emphasis on the south-east.  This show actually displays the scientific names of most plants they discuss.  It is only available with PBS Passport, their donation streaming service, or as a fee-based rental on Prime.  It can be a bit redundant at times, but I found it to be otherwise very worthwhile.
