Lovely @Mikent! Sad that Hélène was so destructive...

@Too Many Plants I am cross- pollinating my three plants and hope to get seeds. This Colchicum is adaptable to areas with a mild winter like mine, it occurs near sea level in many places in Andalusia and Portugal (and on the Gibraltar Rock). The lowland form is even prettier, with much wider tepals. I have some but I have not succeeded in germinating the seeds, and they hardly ever make offsets, so far two after three years in two out of seven corms... I have not tried to cut them, as they are not real bulbs and I still can't really make out how they work, haha, and I call myself a botanist.

@Phrbrock I already spent a fortune on bulbs and seeds of Hippeastrum and bulbs from ZA. I might try next year.

I have not been to Brazil but I think that the plant is more inaccessible than rare. It seems to be thriving in its home cliffs.

Hi, amazing, is that candida as well?

Does anyone grow real atamasco?

Hi, yes, that's the guy.

The question is always 'where did he get his mother plants'?... I'm of the opinion that if this will prevent poaching on wild stands, it's ok. And he sells several hundred seeds each year, from what I've seen.

I've bought seeds of Hippeastrum from Brazil and they reach Spain in 3-4 weeks, just inside a newspaper (Brazilian news are curious to see).

I asked for the price.... $9 per seed... Still it is much less than £350 or ZAR8,000 for 10-12 seeds....

Hi

A Brazilian guy is offering seeds on Facebook, for those with the patience.  I have not asked the price as I won't be trying yet, maybe next year.

Hi

@Uli, i need seeds of that Gladiolus!

The bulb is NUMIDICA, not MARITIMA, it is a different taxon whether you call it a Drimia or a Urginea. Some pirate is selling bulbs on eBay for $500 or more...

I got a few blooms in my Zeph smallii

and in the latest Zeph to arrive, Z. candida

Amazing, @mrhomick I have no idea...

@Martin Bohnet yes, Barnardia is similar to Autonöe (Macaronesian Scilla), but if I remember well, the fruit is fleshy...  I expect to get the form from the Selvagens islands soon.

In the meantime, we had rain and mild temperatures below 30°C/85F, and several rainlilies activated. It seems that it's useless to water some species in the hottest oart if the summer. Still learning.
