I second the motion that we NOT load spell check, not unless we can attach a plant taxonomy glossary.
Tired of spell check changing correctly spelled species into nonsense.

Discovered the "take photo " option does use jpg.
For Martin, more M polystachya.
Just now, in my garden.

I notice 'Quick Edit' does not allow image attach. So new post here to attach, via my desktop, the photos converted to .jpg that I could not attach from my iPhone (in one step). I also attach the screenshot of the error message informing me why the iPhone photos could not be attached.

Not imediately obvious to me whether I need to both UPLOAD and INSERT, or only UPLOAD, for the photos to appear. The preview mode does show them as attached. So, experimenting. (Caps only used to imitate the button font.)

Nevermind.
It apparently takes a minute or two for the photos to appear. At first those posts had no images and now they do.

(before I wrote below)
I do not see a photo Arnold. I am logged in. Maybe the photo got deleted?
(referring to the "Two more" and the "Here's a couple..."

Also, I thought I was not getting notifications anymore to my email but just now I remembered to check and yep they landed in the spam folder.

Is that a Polyxena? It shows up large format in my view, which is fine with me. No thumbnail.
Here is my Nerine bowdenii.

I just realized today that those thumbnail images (or any images on this board) only appear when I am logged in. I did not notice before because it usually keeps me logged in. But today I viewed before logging in.

We have a zoom tomorrow morning about the forum and I do not feel like I have made any progress on this since the last forum because I have not put in the effort. So thanks you guys. I will read what you posted.

Now I will attach an image just for the experience... It is just a screen grab of Goodenia coerulea.
Screen Shot 2020-12-08 at 10.13.57 AM.png

OK learned stuff. If I paste in the attach markup then both the thumb and the full size appear in the post. I assume most of our users will not know what pasting in the attach markup is/does, so won't.

Let me see if I can reproduce my mistake.
I may have cut and pasted the species name from the wiki to be sure I got the spelling correct.
(pasting that below now)
Notholirion thomsonianum

No. I do not think that was the cause of the mistake because I do not recall seeing any bold-italics happen before.
But that DID introduce a size tag. So my mistake was likely caused by a cut-and-paste.

... and now I cannot figure out how to close those format tags put in by the paste to make the later text revert to the default size and color. There must be a markup/plaintext toggle somewhere.

Found it. The right-most button with red square brackets around an arrow.

Here is the photo of the bulbs when I repotted these on 10 October 2020.
Notice the old label is included in the photo, upper right.

The mystery bloom looks to me like
Habranthus robustus

I have in the past grown some Habranthus but I do not recall having seen it form seed. And it was growing in a different place, in the ground, not where seed could fall into pots. Still, seed blows around. So I'll go with that theory, that I lost the original and this Habranthus colonized the pot.

[Note this time I encoded the link so it did not mess up later text in this post.]

I want to learn what I did wrong so we can ease the transition for others.
See attached screenshot.
Something made the text below the link all super-tiny-font.
I did view Preview earlier in the process but not again before posting or I would have caught this I assume.
My guess is something about just pasting a link without properly encoding it has caused the font tiny-if-ication.

Mystery Bulbs / not Notholirion thomsonianna
August 16, 2021, 11:50:40 AM
In 2012 I received item BX316 #6 as Notholirion thomsonianum donated by JMcG.
Today (16 August 2021) I saw the first bloom. Mine is definitely not that species, clear when compared to the wiki:

https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Notholirion#thomsonianum

It is quite lovely and vigorous and even though it is not blue, I like it.
One theory is perhaps some seed volunteered into this pot. The originally planted species may be long gone.
I repotted this in Oct 2020 and I always photograph bulbs when repotting so I can dig up (figuratively) that photo to help identify.
This is why I hesitate to post any bulb or seed photos to the wiki until they are verified in bloom.

These photos download when I click on them. I was expecting them to show larger when I clicked on the thumbnail, like in the wiki.
Sorry if my posting messed with your posting. I would not have expected that kind of concurrency issues for a forum that expects thousands of users.
Can I "Report to moderator" for shrub photos?
Half joking. I actually want to test that feature. I'll moderate one of my own posts so if anyone gets blacklisted it will be me.
I am going to experiment with putting one of the primrose photos inline here...

Well that does not show up (at least not in preview) when I do (attach id=0 msg=127) but with square brackets not parenthesis.

Update: This is weird. My post robbed David's post when I attached his primrose photos to my post.

While this thread is getting sweet and sticky,... people won't even notice Fritillaria sewerzowii
I love the green hue background. I might suggest tweeking the purple of the Home button and our usernames. On the crocus logo it looks darker, perhaps because of the black outline there. If the purple in the Change Color menu is the only purple, that's fine as-is.
Maybe F. sewerzowii has adapted to human predation to hide its blooms like that other one recently published.
Chrome Version 89.0.4389.90 on Mac OS X 10.14.16.
I just now opened this same post in Safari and see that it would allow me to concurrently edit the same post in two browsers. I wouldn't, but that is interesting.

Update: on a different screen the purple looks just fine as-is. So, it was my monitor, not the choice of rgb.

I stand corrected, as I was wrong. There's a first for everything.
