Strap-like leaves. Flowers open towards the end of the day and then close up over night.

Right click in Chrome -> Google lens -> search (in other words do a Google image search) reveals lots of similar flowers, but more information needed like wild or cultivated, or location, centre of flower close up.

Google lens, Candide and other all gave me different results and none of them seem to be a good fit. I can't tell much about it provenance because it is from a seed I got in a mixed packet from Plant World Seed. That is why I was hoping to get some better starting pointers from this group.

Inaturallist isn't helpful either - but you could help us with some pictures of leaves and general habitus.

Plant World Seeds lists all the species included in their mixed packets.  Have you checked with them?

Thanks Diane - I did indeed try that. It was a few years ago and the description at that time said - includes seeds that we otherwise don't offer and come from some special gardens - you may get a surprise or two. This certainly seems to be one of them. I have checked all of the ones they listed.

Sisyrinchium palmifolium looks like a close match.  Compare to the photos on JC Raulston Arboretum's page.

Thanks Dennis - I will look into that further and see if we have a match.
