Hi Cathy et al:
Seedlings produced from 'Charlotte Bishop' seed will
NOT be 'Charlotte Bishop', given the natural variation within Ipheion
uniflorum. Only offsets of bulbs of this variety will be true to name.
Propagating them from seed will only produce a good amount of confusion
around. It will be like in Achillea 'The Pearl', where a lot of sources sell
seed under that name, and a single source sells the real thing (far superior
to those obtained from seed).
Here in the collection we have at least a dozen new
Ipheion uniflorum hybrids, half of them the same size than 'Alberto
Castillo'. One of the most stunning is 'Pampas Frosty Skies', an icey silver
pale blue.
