You might want to check that... as far as I know, Leptospermum is the 
Australian tea tree (though I've never seen it larger than shrub 
size).  It has tiny white or rose or pink flowers that are shaped 
like the flowers on peach/plum trees.  Take a look at these images of 
leptospermum and see if this is what you were thinking of...
