The latest issue of "Mariposa" just arrived. This is the newsletter of the Calochortus Society, and this issue is devoted to C. tiburonensis, an endangered species that grows in a very limited area adjacent to San Francisco. The photographs are, as usual, stunning!!!! "Mariposa" comes out quarterly, and each issue is dedicated to one species. The information provided is superb, covering history, botany, taxonomy and culture. The photographs are truly wonderful.

For anyone with an interest in bulbs native to the western U.S., especially Calochortus, "Mariposa" is not to be missed. It is put out by Georgie Robinett, and all back issues are available. A complete set will give you information unobtainable anywhere else.Contact Georgie Robinett, The Calochortus Society, P. O. Box 1993, Brookings, OR 97415. The subscription rate is somewhere in the region of $10 or $12 (sorry, I don't have it handy
