Jane mentioned virused Crocus medius from Holland - I have mounted a
picture on the wiki of this form,
http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/files/…
and of the apparently clean form that a few are lucky to grow
http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/files/…

In crocus virus is most likely to be seen through twisted, deformed or
streaked flowers. Streaked flowers are usually slightly mis-shapen as
in the medius illustrated. The leaves may not show any obvious sign
of virus.
