Iris wattii Q & A

Dear Jim,

Thanks for being patient with all of us and summarizing all the
information. I have concluded from your fine descriptions that what I
thought was probably Iris wattii is really Iris japonica. Joyce, did you
look at your plants? Les Hannibal was a wonderful plantsman, but it could
be that someone also gave this plant to him and he just accepted the name
without checking it out. You would have never questioned him and Doug would
have assumed what he purchased at the IBS auction was correctly named. I
didn't buy a lot at the IBS auction, but of the few things I did purchase,
a number of them were not what they were labeled to be.

I for one am glad Doug posted his lovely photo so this discussion came up.
Doug, have you checked your plants with Jim's descriptions and do we need
to rename your file and entry on the Wiki to Iris japonica?
