Dear All,
     In Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, there is a 
bed of H. coccineus (I believe that species), measuring a couple square feet, in 
the So. African plantings.   When in bloom, they are a wonder to behold.   
So, Mary Sue, this group does not appear to need excessive heat.
