: Crinum moorei, what does it want ?

My Crinum moorei go dormant in summer, no matter of water I give them. They
are already 'inactive' from a month and won't do absolutely nothing till
late August, when the flower stalks will appear. If they don't get any
water, they will loose almost all leaves, otherwise they will keep a good
crown. They need partial shade in my area or they will get terrible sunburts
on the leaves. In October they push all leaves together in a flush in the
manner of cycads and the bulbs gain size suddenly. I haven't found them
tender up to 28F, but a plant I gave to a friend in a colder town, was burnt
totally at 24F.
As I am in a coastal location, the only enemy is sea wind (gale!) which can
disfigure the plants in few hours.
