Brook asked: " And what about E. zambesiaca?"

I grew a plant under this name for many years as a pot plant. It was a small
Eucomis, not more than a foot high and with proportionally short leaves.

It gave no trouble here as a pot plant kept dry during the winter.

I have no idea whether the plant was true to name, however.

bellied stove and Latin were not the worst of it; it was those quill pens
which kept cracking.
