cut flowers in Europe

First, I bought a cut flower, a hippeastrum, in Denmark's only really good flower shop. Last night I saw on internet that there are double hippeastrums, and that's what I have. Nice as a cut flower (and very expensive too.) The stalk is one-half of my wrist, much thicker than my own hippeastrum.

Then I wanted to buy one H. to send to a nice old lady in England. Our local florist has them bare root and that fits into a box I have. I asked the lady in the florist if the truck from Holland I've noticed brought those bulbs. No, she said, they carry only cut flowers.

Brave new world, huh?

Carol
