Dear All,

The Indigenous Bulb Association of South Africa is planning another bulb
symposium to be held in South Africa the last week of August 2006. It will
be followed by the International Clivia Conference in September. I assume
they are planning it so that people coming from overseas could attend both
if they were interested. My husband and I and some other members of this
list attended the last symposium put on by IBSA. It had great speakers and
interesting field trips. An extra bonus was being able to meet and talk to
people who were interested in South African bulbs.

Four of us visited Tulbagh on our own after the last Symposium ended and
got to see the beautiful Babiana villosa in the wild. I grow it in my
garden in Northern California and it is an especially gorgeous species.
Nice to know that Myke Ashley-Cooper lives near where it is found.

The IBSA members try to make their symposiums affordable, but for a lot of
us it is the air fare that is the major expense. Still this is an event
worth saving for.

Mary Sue
