I have germinated the native Erythrina flabelliformis for years and years; they are actually quite easy, and yet native plant nurseries around here sell them for $10-$20 for a one-gallon plant! What works is wait for warm weather, scarify the seeds (don't be gentle), soak for one to two days, and then plant.
