bulbs that stand up to weather--Narcissus

I know that in my windy, wet (very, very wet this year) climate King Alfred and Mt.Hood daffodils regularly turn to mush soon after opening. N. Cum Laude holds up well. I don't buy many double narcissus anymore, not just because they are not favorites of mine. Generally they hit the dirt from wind and the weight of rain on the blooms. Then the slugs have a feast---ugh.

Zone 8/9, Northern California, still raining, forecasts indicate rain likely for the forseeable future, three inches of rain in the 24 hour period yesterday. I love the rain but I am rethinking that position.
