Hello, last year I planted this species in gravel in a bulb frame, and
this year it bloomed for the first time. See the image at
http://ubcbotanicalgarden.org/potd/2006/…
It and C. breviflorus (planted in open ground) produced flowers and fat
seed capsules this summer. Last winter was -7C/20F at coldest here
which didn't seem to bother either one. Winter conditions are quite
different for each: C. epiphyticus in bulb frame culture has a dry
winter, while C. breviflorus is subjected to copious cold rainfall,
although soil is free draining.
