Lycoris and Rain - A theory

Dear all;
	About a week ago, on Aug 5, 06 I wrote :

	""The notes about bloom remind me about our brutal hot dry
summer. I have three Lycoris in bloom"

	Species and cvs are extremely spotty- one here, one there and
very few with multiple stems- L.chinensis, L. longituba, some
hybrids. I will guess that like last year, when we get a good soaking
rain we'll have a much better show."

	Last night we had almost 1 1/4 inch of rain. Maybe too much
of it ran off, but some soaked in. Will this bring a new flush of
Lycoris bloom as I think or was the spring freeze too damaging to
make a difference, now.?

	I suspect that within a matter of days we'll see more blooms,
but as the temps continue to hover around 100F (with THI of 106 -
108) it may just be too extreme.

	Stay tuned.		Best		Jim W.
