Just wanted to share with you all, two updated photos of Codonopsis lanceolata. This year the plant has grown vigorously, scrambling 5' up a rhododendron and hanging back down again, just dripping with flowers and those boiled-egg buds.

I noticed this year, that the flowers attract wasps (yellow jackets), and inside each flower, there is likely to be one wasp. Perhaps they are attracted to the very faint foetid smcent within the flower. I like to turn the flowers upwards to enjoy the intricate markings inside, but have to be careful to avoid being stung.
