Hello Joe, I was advised to place my albuca (not sure on the ID of this one) on a mix of sand, grit, and good compost. Once the bulb is placed on this mix, top up with a mix of sand and grit. Mine are quite happy in this mix and have increased in size steadily. Just the crown of the bulb is showing. Linda Foulis Okotoks, AB Canada Zone 3
