Watsonia pyramidata

I've bought some corms of cultivars of Watsonia pyramidata from a local
retail shop. The names of the cultivars are 'Flamboyant', 'Seashell' and
'Ablaze'.

The references I have here at home tell me that this is a potentially tall
species (up to 5').

What I would like to know is this: is it a winter growing species? Can I
expect it to put up tall foliage during the winter? I would like to winter
these in my protected cold frame - am I about to be disappointed?

Little Watsonia humilis seem to take well to cold frame life; I'm hoping
these tall forms will, too.
