Early winter flowering

Lauw,

Did the flowers that were not damaged change themselves while it was  
cold?

For example, I can tell how cold it is outside by seeing how tightly  
the rhododendrons roll their leaves.  No need to go outside or look at  
a thermometer - just look out the window.
