>>Can anyone recommend a reliable source of 4" plastic labels with a matte
finish that takes pencil well?

This year I was repotting several hundred pots and needed to replace the
labels. I was disgusted by the prices of plastic labels, so I decided to
try the window blind trick. Here's how it works:

--Go to the local hardware depot store and buy a one-inch venetian blind. In
the US, that will run you about six bucks.

--Cut all the strings.

--Cut the vinyl slats into four-inch chunks.

This is actually cheaper than buying plastic labels, and I suspect they are
going to last longer because the vinyl is formulated to resist sunlight.
