Fiction Authors Get It Wrong

About movie adornments...I fondly remember seeing jungle adventurers (always the bad guys) skirt around the potted philodendrons carefully buried on the Hollywood film stage, then fall into quicksand, which was usually in a tidy round "pool" about six feet in diameter with a rocking carpet of what appeared to be chopped peat moss on top about 4" thick.  Those shots of nothing left of the bad guy but his outstretched hand - slowly sinking - were pure Hollywood... - Cynthia Mueller
