I am not sure if is my climate (Nothern California, San Mateo, CA) or what, but in my garden Tigridia pavonia grows like a weed. It self seeds, and comes up in my lawn and all over my flowerbeds, and has been a reliable bloomer for at least 10 years. I do not dig them up in the fall, but we do not get much in the way of frost..a few days of low temperatures at or below freezing per year. I don't remember where I obtained the original bulbs from...Most of the flowers are the typical sort of orangey-red color, but occasionally there are white and yellow ones as well. My cultivated ones are quite a bit smaller (height 1 -1.5 ft)  than the wild ones that we found in Jalisco last year...(these plants were  nearly 4 feet tall!)
