Arguing over pronunciations has become quite an enjoyable past time for me & other half. The latest argument was over the gesneriad genus Achimenes. With my knowledge of modern greek I tend to pronounce things as they would. With his background in botany he tends to pronounce things as modern botanists would. To my ear "ak ih MAY neez" sounds way more scientific than "uh CHIM ih neez". Although Mary Poppins might prefer the latter.... :-) Dennis in Cincinnatuh
