Hippeastrum leaf problem

Hi,

My first thought was of Diaspidid scales or wax scales. But the thing looks 
like something reddish-brown inside the lower leaf surface, not on the 
surface.

I couldn’t see any other symptoms on the Hippeastrum plant. Now it looks 
like the item is drying out:
