Agreed, it would be more effective to mix the Plantskydd granules near the  
roots or bulbs at planting time, which I did for new plantings. For 
established  areas of the garden I scratched it into the soil.

It may be non-toxic, as you say, but it is surely  non-effective also.
Pellets that are placed below ground where most of  these creatures do their
dining and cause damage to the roots of your  plants is a far better place 
to
put the pellets.
