A salutary reminder from another hemisphere, Alberto. As is the great
freeze of 1972, when temperatures dropped below 30 F for 3 days
straight, and which began 40 years ago tomorrow.

(As a native New Englander, I find such figures laughable as do, I'm
sure, many of our members from less hospitable climes, but as a
California gardner I certainly do not).
