Michael, based on my limited experience the nectary shape is a classic
C. superbus chevron, but the nectary hairs are rather yellower than
one would expect. The jepson description of C. vestae is here:
http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/tjm2/review/…
(scroll up for C. superbus). I would lean toward superbus just because
that seems to be the default when in doubt.

Speaking of C. superbus, I noticed that I have a picture of a purple
form on the wiki, which I have not seen in several years. However, I
do have an extra yellow form this year, which I don't remember seeing
before. I am suspicious.

Best,
