This is something that happens to donors to major seed exchanges, and
I have to say that it can be troublesome to the donors. Over the
years I have been contacted a number of times by people who saw that
I had donated a certain kind of seed to NARGS or AGS, but they didn't
get it from the exchange and wanted me to supply it personally. At
times this has resulted in interesting correspondence and exchanges
that profited both parties, but at other times it has just caused me
a lot of extra trouble. (Once it even led to my being offensively
harrassed via e-mail, fortunately by someone very far away!) On the
whole, I think it's worth taking a chance on, but not every donor
might feel that way. I'd just suggest that anyone who personally
approaches a donor asking for material be very cautious and
understanding if the response isn't what they had hoped.
