Andrew, the reasoning is flawless but T. tuberosum and other Andean crops are practically alpine crops. We can not flower them here and we are a good deal cooler than San Diego. One associates San Diego with giraffes and zebras and not with the Andean altitudes of Bolivia, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador, the former Inca Empire.
