Thanks Paul for your input also, and Joe too.  I like to have a name, so
until otherwise proved N. flexuosa sounds good to me !!

Paul, re Gladiolus dalenii, I have it and this one's nothing like it - in
growth habit as well as size of flower and leaf - unless there's a great
variation, as you suggest.

Thanks Mary Sue for the link - I've still to compare my plant with some of
the indicators in that article, hopefully I'll be able to settle
comfortably on one.
