Many winter-growing Oxalis start to grow in August in California. Plant it
right away with the sprout *sideways* about half an inch under the surface
in very well-drained mix, and water the pot once a week. In future years,
start watering in August. Keep the pot in a fairly shady spot until the
leaves show up above the ground.

The spindle-shaped Oxalis seem to mostly grow on their sides (in other
words, with both pointy things growing to the sides, not with one up and one
down).

Have fun,
