Jim, people saying so it's me and only because I have seen the plant in the wild on different times of the year and in summer, IN THE WILD it goes dormant without any leaf. Conditions are really hot and summer rainfall may not be enough to keep it green. Under cultivation it is practically evergreen or can stop growing any new foliage in winter.
