I recall you live in San Diego with a winter-rainfall climate? Why not let
the rain hit them, since they're hoping for that? And if any of these
seeds have germination inhibitors, overhead watering so as to carry the
chemicals down and away will work much better than bottom watering. Most
of these genera sprout here in Phoenix in about 2-4 weeks.
