The streaking on the petals looks suspiciously like a virus infection. If you 
have other gladioli you've grown from seed, plant this one well away from them, 
just as lily fanciers who grow from seed keep commercial clones, all of which 
are virus infected, well away from their precious species.

It's a beautiful plant, for all that.
