Hi Rodger, I noticed something ate three crocuses last week and did not eat any foliage, or any neighboring flowers. I also suspected slugs, baited with Sluggo, and got no dead slugs. These crocus were already protected under a 1/4 inch wire mesh at the time they were eaten so that rules out birds and large critters. (The purpose of the mesh was shade.) They only ate the petals and left the anthers and stigma bare. I can only add to the mystery, not solve it. - Gastil
