The Biological Imaging Facility at UC Berkeley has a custom tweaked
microwave that could heat samples to certain temperatures. Since
microwaves heat samples much quicker and deeper than an oven, I think
it would drastically reduce the amount of time necessary to treat the
bulbs. I don't think a large bulb would work as well though.
