The Amaryllis belladonna bulbs in my garden must have been listening in on the PBS conversation about the species, because they’ve put up shoots this week. Yes, we’ve had a warm summer, and they tend to flower earlier when this happens. I’ve had first shoots in late September to early October, so it’s a treat to see them so soon. Nhu said that he’s waiting for less weird weather to resume tracking dates of appearance of shoots and flowers. Kathleen PNW coast, zone 8
