Dylan,
  I fully agree with yours and others' sentiments that sharing plants and propagules is the only substantive way to ensure a future for a particular plant or taxon. I was arguing a smaller point about the value of online documents for collaborative information aggregation when it comes to the records-keeping side of horticulture and conservation.   I took if from prior discussion that some members were considering creating a database of bulb-related info and I merely wanted to emphasize that online documents provide many benefits to collaborative endeavors such as that.
