The main bulb will bulk up better if it doesn't make offsets, but in the 
long run it won't hurt it.  I plant mine deeper with the bulb completely 
submerged.

Is this normal for this species, or will all these offsets hinder the growth of the main bulb? The main bulb looks quite healthy, less than half submerged in a very porous potting medium. Thanks.
