Reading Beatrix Potter's Gardening Life by Marta McDowell, the winter and spring sections discuss many bulbs that she planted in her gardens, including thousands of snowdrops, crocus, winter aconites, lilies, and others.
This look back at a prolific gardener of a century ago reminded me of how long many bulbs have been in cultivation.
