This is great news indeed as Sam Caldwell did extensive research into cultivation, genetics, and breeding of Lycorises, sadly at a time when China was closed to the west and no information could be obtained. And when no one was interested in Lycorises save for him and Traub. Presently we know a lot more about species and hybrids status and a number of new species have been described.

The Dutch Bulb Growers had been very interested in the extraordinary possibilities of Lycorises as cut flowers but results for cultivation were not as expected.

It is very fortunate that we can count with the expertise of Jim Waddick, widely acknowledged as THE expert on the genus and having him revise Sam Caldwell's papers will no doubt produce a lot of interesting and useful information.
