I agree with Jane. Zigadenus is a much better name. Many other bulbs are very toxic but they don't advertise it in the name. Zigadenus is elegant, while Toxicoscordion is... descriptive? I found one study of the molecular analysis of "Zigadenus complex" species separating the genus into Toxicoscordion and others. The only species to remain in Zigadenus was Zigadenus glaberrimus.
